You should be seeing the design applet just here. You either need to install a newer version of Java, or make sure it is properly enabled. Get the latest version at the Java websiteor find useful information at Java Tester.

Once you have got Java working, you can design your patterns and choose your threads for your kongoh gumi braid.

Brief instructions

Click the color you want, then click on the pattern or wheel to place it. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the number of threads in your design. When you make your braid, make sure you start with the arrowed thread at the top, and turn the disk anti-clockwise.

More InfoGet more information about using the Kongoh-gumi designer and making braids.

To make your own friendship bracelet or kongoh-gumi braid, you will need threads and a kumihimo disk. We mostly use embroidery thread - either rayon or regular DMC. Traditional braids are made from silk.

We have some other kongoh-gumi braids on our Marudai Design tool page. The technique is the same, but the groups are different sizes.

If the applet isn't working, take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions page and see if you can find the reason there. If not, please Contact Us with more information so we can try and solve the problem.
